Good afternoon, the Barrett Junction Cafe & Mercantile is in search of an experienced waitress or waiter bartender. The drive each day is relaxing and beautiful. The wage is $9 p/hour plus tips. If it works out, a $10 p/day gas allowance will also be provided, if you live in El Cajon area. You will be needed for 14 hours a week. This includes weekends and holidays. Barrett Junction Cafe & Mercantile is closed 2 major Holidays each year, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
There are two dining areas and the patio in front where customers like to hangout. Saturdays and Sundays the larger dining room is open, while during the week the front dining area is used. The larger one seats up to 200 people and the smaller, front dining area seats about 50, give or take a few.
The food includes fish fry, pulled pork, barbecue, a full bar, and soft drinks. The menu is pretty much the same as it was in 1946, with a few updates and variations. The coleslaw, tarter sauce, batter for the fish are homemade.
The customers include local families, bikers from all walks of life, and vacationers. The drive out to the cafe and back into town, if you live in El Cajon, Lakeside, etc. is beautiful no matter what time of day or night. The same can be said for the drive from Campo and Portrero, the other side of Barrett Junction.
